Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding

I’ve always loved the Bridget Jones films so when the team over at Bookbreak offered me the chance to join their readalong of this cult classic I jumped at the chance! I instantly fell in love with the book character of Bridget and her absolutely barmy life and adored each of the differences with the film in a completely different way, her mum was an absolute hoot!

The Last Murder at the End of the World by Stuart Turton

Pairing a locked room cosy murder mystery with a sci-fi twist, this book has been one of me favourites of the year so far! I absolutely loved the world building and alternative society contained within it as well as Emory’s fantastic part playing detective!

The Train From Platform 2 by Stephanie Steel

A locked room thriller with a claustrophobic feel, this murder mystery set deep in the depths of the London underground had me constantly on the edge of my seat as the secrets of each of the stuck characters were revealed.

Born for This by Caitlin Devlin

February also saw me take part in another fantastic Tandem Collective readalong, this time of an Amazon Publishing hit Born for This. I was glued to the page following each of the terrible characters as they smashed up the world around them in a glitzy movie industry setting.

Piglet by Lottie Hazell

This book will make you hungry! Piglet was like a runaway train hurtling towards the worst wedding ever. I cringed constantly but couldn’t look away as things piled up but most of all, the food content within this book had me constantly craving something to eat!

The Convenience Store by the Sea by Sonoko Machida

Convenience Store by the sea is definitely one of the cutest books I’ve read so far this year! It was incredibly cosy and sinking into the world of each of the characters was like being wrapped in a lovely hug. Perfect for Japanese fiction lovers or translated fiction fans!

Audiobook Pick: I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You by Miranda Hart

This book was such a brilliant bunch of loveliness by the fantastic Miranda. Working through self-acceptance and self-love with plenty of humorous moments, this was the perfect audiobook to fill my work commute with. Miranda Hart’s signature humour helped some darker themes feel instantly lighter and I loved the fill-in Miranda show moments as a fan of the show.
