My Favourite book Subscription Boxes

Books on a wooden board

As you may have guessed, I am a complete bookaholic. Do I have more books than I can ever possibly read? Yes. Will I stop buying more books and subscribing to every book box imaginable? Definitely not! If one of your new year’s resolutions is to read more, subscribing to a book club or box is the perfect way to introduce yourself to new reads with a few extra goodies along the way!

Here are a few of my favourite tried-and-tested book subscription boxes along with links to my book subscription unboxings so you can take a look for yourself!

Why Book Subscription boxes?

You may be wondering, as I have done many times, why choose a book subscription instead of just buying the books myself? My main reason, #treatyourself. Isn’t it just the most exciting thing getting amazing books posted through your door? Especially if they are beautifully wrapped and make it feel like it is your birthday every month!

Whilst pretty packaging is definitely high up on my list, book subscriptions also give me the chance to try out brand new books and books I have never heard of before, one of my favourite monthly book subscriptions also funds a fantastic charity and pulls out incredible eye-opening picks every month. As someone who studied English Lit at uni mainly for the book recs, this is definitely a winning point for me!

The Best Book Subscriptions Right Now

These are some of my favourite book subscriptions right now based on items I have personally received from them. You can see what is included in each box with their book unboxing video or image.

Shelterbox book club subscription

The Shelterbox Book Club

As a charity-based book club, the Shelterbox Book Club is one of my favourite subscriptions purely based on the fantastic hidden gems it manages to dig up each month. Each month subscribers are given a vote out of three hand-picked books that explore a different culture, the winning book then gets sent out the next month.

Past picks have included We Are Displaced by Malala Yousafzai and The Space Between Us by Thrity Umrigar, I also loved receiving Mr Loverman by the brilliant Bernardine Evaristo. The book club also holds Q&A’s with the featured authors and book discussions throughout the month. All of the proceeds go to Shelterbox’s disaster relief efforts too. Check them out here >

Bookfulness

I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of Bookfulness’ brand reps and receive each month’s box for free. However I’m always incredibly impressed by how beautiful each month’s contents and packaging are! Each month’s box is themed so you get all sorts of goodies from cup cosies to diaries to chocolate treats all wrapped up beautifully with a surprise read. As a small business based in Wales, they include treats from local makers like the book sleeve I received in the April book box and the locally-made biscuits in each month’s box (yes they are delicious!). The Teatime Book Shop

For brand-new releases and a paired-back approach, the Tea Time Book Shop book subscription box is perfect. Each month you’ll receive one or two books (I opted for two) in the genre of your choice along with a drink of your choice from tea, coffee or hot chocolate and a biscuit treat. I’ve loved the picks so far and have found lots of Bookstagram favourites in my boxes.

Good Book Club Subscription

With a indie or feminist book pick every month, Good Book Club is the perfect book subscription for discovering new reads. Based in Bristol they aim to amplify under-represented voices. I loved receiving a copy of Ripe by Sarah Rose Etter as it released in one of their recent book boxes. Check out my unboxing.

Thinking of Starting a Book Subscription?

There are so many book subscription boxes setting up across the UK including a lot that I haven’t yet tried and for a variety of book subscription prices. If you are planning on signing up for a book subscription, always look at the reviews to check they are legit and *always* look for a new subscriber offer, some even throw in a free book if it is your first box!
